You can reduce your premiums by increasing the excess (the amount you pay for a repair or replacement as part of a claim) from £50 to up to £250, or pay a little more to remove the excess entirely.Buildings Cover meets the cost of damage caused by:
- Fire
- Lightning or explosion
- Storm or flood
- Escape of water or oil
- Impact by aircraft, animals or vehicles
- Subsidence, heave or landslip
- Breakage of glass or sanitary fittings
- Accidental damage to underground pipes or cables
- Falling trees or branches
Automatically meets the total cost of repair or replacement of your belongings, including high-risk items, like jewellery, hi-fi and personal computers, up to a specified value each.
Standard cover also includes cover for:

- Freezer contents
- Personal money in your home
- Any losses arising from illegal use of stolen credit cards
- Fitting new locks if any keys are stolen or lost
- Any office equipment you keep at home
- Property kept in the open, for example, in your garden
- The full cost of replacing mirrors or fixed glass in furniture broken by accident
- Loss of metered water
- Damage to satellite equipment
- Damage to or theft of deeds and documents
- Any legal liability you incur as occupier of your home or land, or in your personal life
- Accidental buildings damage cover — for mishaps like damage caused while doing DIY or carrying out maintenance
- Accidental contents damage Cover — for breakages and spills at home
- Personal belongings cover — for loss of or accidental damage to you and your family's personal belongings at, or away from home. Choose up to £6,000 worth of cover, up to a limit of £2,000 per item
- Home emergency cover — access to our emergency helpline to put you in touch with a reliable tradesman to fix a problem like a burst pipe or electrical failure, and up to £250 for call-out charge, labour and materials
- Legal expenses cover — cover for up to £50,000 in legal expenses to pursue or defend a legal action, for example a personal injury, employment or consumer rights claim
